The tax assessor’s office will then order your new tag which will be delivered in the mail to you within 10-14 business days.

Home Buyer Education Seminars

REALTORS® can earn 15 hours of elective CE credit by attending one of several two-day homebuyer education seminars offered annually throughout the state by the Home Buyer Education Center/Mississippi Housing Initiative (MHI).

MHI is a partnership of various agencies/organizations that believe through a concerted effort more Mississippians can and will become homeowners. MHI provides homebuyer seminars to non-profit agencies, lenders and real estate professionals who come in contact with potential first-time buyers. The Mississippi Association of REALTORS® is an MHI partner and encourages REALTORS® to be aware of the services offered.

In addition to offering top-quality home buyer education seminars, MHI provides homebuyer education directly to potential homebuyers at their Jackson office located in the Jackson Medical Mall. REALTORS® can refer potential first-time homebuyers (who are not quite ready for the mortgage process) to MHI staff who will take them through an extensive process that over time can result in the potential homebuyer being mortgage-ready. REALTORS® who refer buyers to MHI for counseling will likely to get them back ready to purchase a home.

REALTORS® taking the two-day train-the-trainer sessions receive an extensive curriculum that can be used in the REALTOR®'s own buyer counseling sessions. The curriculum includes the following topics: steps in the homebuying process, obtaining financial literacy, understaning credit scoring, identifying and working with real estate professionals, obtaining a mortgage, avoiding mortgage fraud and finding the right home.

Register for upcoming MHI Train-the-Trainer sessions or contact MHI staff at 601-366-9141.
